These pre-evacuated tubes contain a precise volume of 3.8% (0.129M) Tri-Sodium Citrate anticoagulant. The vacuum is calibrated to draw the exact blood volume required to achieve the critical 4 parts blood to 1 part anticoagulant (4:1) ratio upon proper filling. This ratio is paramount; any deviation can significantly alter the sedimentation rate, leading to potentially misleading clinical interpretations.
